The Steamworks group has released a new announcement detailing upcoming changes to the Steam platform. The post outlines several changes that will impact developers and publishers, as well as players using the platform.
Valve reports that in the past year, Steam players downloaded 44.7 exabytes of data, a 36% increase from 2021. This is equivalent to the amount of data that would be downloaded if every person on Earth, or 8 billion people, downloaded a 5.5 GB game.

The announcement also notes that Valve is working to improve its discovery algorithms, which are used to surface new games and content to players on the platform. These improvements will include changes to the recommendation system and an increase in the amount of control developers have over how their games are displayed to players.
