Microsoft Rumors to Expand Horizons with Multiplatform Release Strategy for Xbox Exclusives
Microsoft is reportedly setting a new course by bringing several high-profile Xbox and PC-exclusive titles to non-Xbox platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Sources familiar with Microsoft's plans, as reported by The Verge and XboxEra, indicate a strategic shift aimed at broadening the availability of its first-party games beyond the Xbox ecosystem.
Among the titles mentioned is the eagerly anticipated "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle," scheduled for a December release on Xbox Series and PC, with a PlayStation 5 version expected months later. Additionally, "Hi-Fi RUSH" is rumored to be announced for PlayStation 5 and Switch in the coming weeks, targeting a Q1 2024 release.
The strategy extends to "Starfield," with a PlayStation 5 launch planned post the "Shattered Space" expansion in 2024. Microsoft has invested in PlayStation 5 development kits to support these efforts, highlighting the company's commitment to multiplatform releases.
This pivot aims to capitalize on the revenue potential of previously exclusive titles by making them accessible to a wider audience. An official announcement regarding this multiplatform strategy is anticipated in February.
