Sensor Tower data shows that Tencent's Honor of Kings had total revenue of more than 225 million USD in the global App Store and Google Play in July 2022, reigning as the world’s top-selling mobile game. Revenue from China's iOS market accounted for 94.6%, while overseas markets accounted for 5.4% of the total revenue.
Another of Tencent's mobile games, PUBG Mobile, ranked second on the list with 164 million USD in revenue. Of this, 69% of revenue came from its Chinese iOS market and 6.4% from the U.S. market.
The other three games in the top five were HoYoverse’s Genshin Impact, King’s Candy Crush Saga and Roblox.
In July 2022, global mobile game players paid approximately 6.7 billion USD on the App Store and Google Play, down 10.2% year-over-year. The U.S. remains the world's top market for mobile game revenue, contributing 1.9 billion USD, or 28.4% of total revenue. The Japanese market ranked No. 2, accounting for 20%, and the Chinese iOS market ranked No. 3, accounting for 17.8%.
Bandai Namco's Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle drew over 70 million USD worldwide in July, a 330% increase compared to the previous month, making it the second highest-grossing month of the year. This is largely due to the game's 7th-anniversary celebration and special in-game events. Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle has a peak in revenue every July since its global release in July 2015. The game's highest grossing month this year was February, with total revenue of 72.3 million USD, during which the game celebrated the 7th anniversary of its launch in the Japanese market.
