Sensor Tower data shows that in August 2022, TikTok has drawn more than 306 million USD in the global App Store and Google Play, 1.8 times more than the same period last year, reigning as the top grossing non-game mobile app worldwide.
About 47.2% of the revenue came from the Chinese market; followed by The U.S., contributing 16.5%; and the Japanese market ranked third, accounting for 4.2%.
YouTube ranked second on the list with roughly 133 million USD in revenue, up 31.2% Year-over-Year. Of that, 37.2% of revenue came from the U.S. market, with Japan coming next at 19.9%.
The other three apps in the top five of the list were Google One, Tinder and Disney+.
Line Manga made more than 54 million USD in August, up 7% Year-over-Year. This was due to the success of its summer event, "Super LINE Manga Time," which offered a variety of content such as free manga, daily update videos, a new read screen function collaboration with three famous VTubers, and a give-away event that allowed readers to win manga coins and overseas travel vouchers.
