HoYoverse's Genshin Impact ranked No. 2 on the list with total revenue of 154 million USD, up 58.5% from June 2021. Among these, 44% of revenue came from its Chinese IOS market and 25.5% from the Japanese market.
The other three games in the top five of the revenue list were PUBG Mobile, Pokémon GO and Candy Crush Saga.
In June 2022, mobile game players globally spent approximately 6.4 billion USD on the App Store and Google Play, down 10% year-over-year. The U.S. remains the world's top market for mobile game revenue, contributing 1.8 billion USD, or 28.4% of the total global revenue. The Japanese market ranked No. 2 with 19.3%, and the Chinese IOS market ranked No. 3 with 18.7%.
Niantic's Pokémon GO drew 110 million USD worldwide in this period, up about 58% compared to May 2022 and 11.8% year-over-year. This is largely due to the game's annual event Pokémon GO Fest on June 4-5, for which players must purchase tickets in-game to attend. Revenue for the game soared to 7.8 million USD the day before the event kicked off on June 3 and reached 16 million USD between June 4 and 5.
