Transhuman Design and publisher Skystone Games have initiated the distribution of a demo version for their rogue-lite action game Maniac as part of the Steam Next Fest. This game combines the chaotic destruction of Grand Theft Auto with the replayability of Vampire Survivors, incorporating elements reminiscent of the car action movie franchise Fast & Furious.
The game is presented in a top-down rogue-lite action format, inviting players to engage in relentless destruction until their character's demise.
Players can assume the roles of various eccentric characters, including a murderous clown or an unemployed, inebriated Santa Claus, causing havoc in the city by shooting guns and hijacking cars to go on a rampage. As the player continues their spree of destruction, emergency services and police are deployed, escalating to the appearance of FBI agents and military helicopters, tightening the encirclement around the player. To counter these challenges, players can seek out dealers on the map to acquire enhancement items and weapons or switch to more powerful vehicles like bulldozers for increased mayhem.
