New Gaming Venture Roro Launched by Industry Veterans, Secures €1.5M Investment
Industry veterans from Mojang Studios and Toca Boca have come together to form a new game development studio, Roro, aiming to innovate in the mobile gaming space. Co-founded by CEO William Sampson, formerly of Toca Boca, and Robin Flodin, with Kristoffer Jelbring of Mojang Studios also on board, Roro marks a significant new chapter for these experienced game developers.
The studio's establishment is backed by an initial investment of 1.5 million EUR, led by Node.vc and supported by FOV Ventures. This funding will fuel the development of Roro's first project, an interactive digital dollhouse, which promises to offer a fresh take on creative play and self-expression within the gaming industry.
Sampson highlighted the industry's growing recognition of pure play's potential, yet noted the lack of quality experiences focusing on creativity and self-expression. With Roro, the team aims to fill this gap, bringing their collective experience and vision to the forefront of mobile gaming innovation.
