China, one of the largest markets in the gaming industry, has shown a strong preference for PlayStation, contributing significantly to its global success. Despite the popularity of PC and mobile gaming platforms in China, the console market has seen a substantial 20% year-on-year increase in sales, with 28.6 million consoles sold in the first three quarters of 2023 alone. This surge has propelled the global console game market to a value of 335.46 billion CNY (47.18 billion USD), an 11% increase from 2022.

The Nintendo Switch also performed impressively in China, achieving a 56.3% market share for a single device. However, PlayStation's diverse software offerings, including record-breaking titles like Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarok (which reached 15 million sales), have fortified its position.
Looking ahead, Sony's 2024 lineup is packed with exclusive titles, indicating another strong year for PlayStation in both China and global markets. This continued success underscores PlayStation's robust presence in the console gaming industry, even in regions traditionally dominated by PC and mobile gaming.
