Bloodborne Hits 7.5 Million Sales Mark, Leaked Data Reveals
FromSoftware's cult favorite, Bloodborne, has reportedly reached a staggering 7.5 million copies sold as of the fiscal year 2020, a significant leap from the 2 million reported in September 2015. This revelation comes in the wake of a massive ransomware attack on Insomniac Games, leading to the leak of over 1.3 million files, including detailed sales data for several first-party PlayStation titles.
Released in March 2015 for the PS4, Bloodborne was developed by FromSoftware in collaboration with Sony Japan Studio. The leaked information, sourced from ResetEra, suggests that the gothic action RPG not only sold through 7.464 million units but also generated 265 million dollars in net revenue, with digital sales accounting for 41% of the total. The data, covering sales up to the last week of February 2022, indicates that current figures could be even higher.
Despite the game's success and the ongoing demand for a sequel, remake, or PS5 upgrade, rumors of Bloodborne 2 and a PC port/remaster were quashed in early 2022, leaving fans in anticipation.
In related news, PlayStation's venture into PC ports like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales continues to show impressive sales, with the latter reaching 10.2 million sales across all platforms. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart also performed well, shipping 2.7 million copies and turning a profit for Sony.
