Frost Giant Studios Launches Kickstarter for New RTS "Stormgate," Surpasses Funding Goal in Minutes

Frost Giant Studios, the developer behind iconic titles like "StarCraft II" and "Warcraft III," has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their latest real-time strategy game, "Stormgate." The campaign, which had a target of 100,000 USD, remarkably achieved its goal within just 15 minutes of launching. It has since amassed pledges exceeding 957,000 USD.

Developed using Unreal Engine 5, "Stormgate" is being led by industry veterans Tim Morten, former Production Director of "StarCraft II," and Tim Campbell, who was the Lead Campaign Designer for "Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne." The game promises to deliver a new level of high-definition visuals with 4K resolution, showcasing massive wars with hundreds of units.

Set in a futuristic science-fantasy world, "Stormgate" depicts the battle between humans and invading aliens centuries into the future. The game features a campaign playable in cooperative mode for up to three players, a competitive 1v1 ladder accommodating all skill levels, and a powerful yet user-friendly editor for creating custom missions and mini-games.

The Kickstarter campaign continues to surpass its stretch goals, unlocking additional features like an Arctic Circle tileset, HUD skins, additional 3v3 versus environment weekly mutators, and new player assist tools.

"Stormgate" is anticipated to be a free-to-play title on Steam, with a beta test scheduled for early 2024. With its rapid Kickstarter success, "Stormgate" is poised to be a major new entry in the RTS genre, drawing significant attention ahead of its release.
