Rockstar Games' highly anticipated "Grand Theft Auto VI" trailer has been released earlier than planned following an unexpected leak. The official trailer confirms the game's return to the iconic Vice City and introduces a new setting, the state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. "GTA VI" is set for a 2025 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The leak, which surfaced on Twitter, prompted Rockstar to release the trailer ahead of its scheduled debut. The trailer reveals that the game will feature dual protagonists – a significant narrative shift for the series – including a female ex-con. It showcases various elements such as in-game social media channels resembling TikTok and Instagram Reels, a nod to the infamous 'Florida Man,' as well as diverse landscapes like the Leonida wetlands.
The trailer teases an array of engaging content, including airboats, alligators, police bodycam footage, dirt bikes, quads, convenience store robberies, and the return of Weazel News, all set against a backdrop of neon-drenched streets.
Rockstar founder Sam Houser expressed excitement about pushing the boundaries of immersive, story-driven open-world experiences with "GTA VI." However, the trailer offered more mood-setting elements than specific details about gameplay advancements or GTA Online's future.
Despite the early leak, excitement for the game's 2025 release on next-gen consoles continues to build, with fans eagerly anticipating further announcements, including the possibility of a PC version.
