Team Spirit has secured its second championship title at The International 12 Dota 2 tournament, sweeping Gaimin Gladiators 3-0 in a hotly contested final. This victory adds another feather to Team Spirit's cap, making them the second team after OG to win The International twice. While OG accomplished this feat with a consistent lineup, Team Spirit showcased their adaptability by winning with a restructured roster compared to their TI10 victory in 2021.
Team Spirit Roster
Both teams entered the final as favorites, each with their own string of successes. Team Spirit had just clinched a major win at the Ryiad Masters and had an impressive season, whereas Gaimin Gladiators aimed for the grand slam after securing all three DPC Majors this year.
Game one saw unusual picks like Gyrocopter and Beastmaster, showing that neither team was restricted to meta selections. Team Spirit's Beastmaster proved more effective, leading them to a 1-0 win. Game two featured Team Spirit’s Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov picking Magnus, a pivotal element in their TI10 win, propelling the team to a 2-0 lead. In the final game, despite a strong mid-game from Gaimin Gladiators, Team Spirit staged a comeback, sealing their second TI championship with a 3-0 win.
Although the prize pool saw a reduction this year, Team Spirit walked away with a hefty 1,413,785 USD, while Gaimin Gladiators earned 376,954 USD. The event itself was praised for its high-quality production, including exceptional English broadcast talent, elevating TI12 to be one of the best in the series.
