Activision Blizzard clarified its position as the company's acquisition by Microsoft looms. "We're not planning to introduce Modern Warfare 3 or Diablo IV to Game Pass this year," they said in an official statement. "After finalizing the deal, we intend to collaborate with Xbox to make our titles more accessible globally, aiming to add games to Game Pass sometime next year."

The company was mum on which specific titles might land on Game Pass, leaving fans to speculate. Pre-existing agreements between Sony and Activision could also mean that Call of Duty might not make a Game Pass appearance for a while. Xbox's Phil Spencer indicated that logistical hurdles remain before titles could be integrated into Game Pass.
However, according to Windows Central, a slew of games will join the Game Pass roster "the very minute" Microsoft closes the deal, which is actively being finalized. Microsoft has received initial clearance for the acquisition from the UK's Competition and Markets Authority, with a final decision due by October 18. The EU and US authorities have already given their nods, while the UK body reversed its initial resistance after Microsoft agreed to sell Activision Blizzard's cloud streaming rights to Ubisoft.
