As we approach the fall season, anticipation for the annual Call of Duty release is growing. Activision recently validated the buzz around this year's installment being Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, developed by Sledgehammer Games. The latest addition to the revived series is set to launch on PC and possibly on consoles, including the Nintendo Switch, come November 10th.

Details are sparse at the moment, apart from a teaser video. Yet, Activision hinted at a groundbreaking feature: the ability for players to transfer items such as operators, weapons, and bundles from the previous game, Modern Warfare II, to the latest one. This move heavily suggested the continuation of the Modern Warfare series rather than reverting to a World War II backdrop.

Earlier in 2022, there were rumblings that the market might not see a brand-new Call of Duty title this year. Initial reports proposed that Activision might take a slower approach, focusing on a significant expansion for Modern Warfare II while consistently updating Warzone and crafting the subsequent primary title. However, the company maintained its annual tradition of rolling out a full-fledged Call of Duty game.

A Bloomberg article in February shared that Modern Warfare III might incorporate maps and modes from its predecessor but will retain its distinct identity as a standalone title. Fans and gamers alike are eager to see how Activision navigates this transition, with more insights expected in the upcoming weeks.

On a related note, there's buzzing speculation that Microsoft's imminent 68.7 billion USD purchase of Activision Blizzard will be finalized shortly. This could potentially mark Modern Warfare III as the inaugural Call of Duty game to debut on the Xbox Game Pass upon its release.
