Recently, there has been a circulating message in the Chinese gaming community about the popular ocean adventure game "Dave the Diver" being developed as a tribute to Australian diver "Dave Shaw." However, this claim is not accurate. Cobra, the director of "Dave the Diver," recently clarified this rumor on Discord, stating that they were not aware of Dave Shaw's story when they initially designed the character.

Cobra said, "I heard about this in the Chinese community, and you can say whether it is true or not. Initially, we didn't know about this when we were designing the character. After we learned about it later, we thought the game's name could pay tribute to him. However, the game's storyline itself is unrelated to this event. But I'm glad that our game has made more people remember him."

Dave Shaw was an Australian diver who, in 2004, accidentally discovered the remains of another diver, Deon Dreyer, during a challenge in South Africa's Bushman's Hole. Deon had passed away in a diving accident in the same cave in 1994. After learning about Deon's story, Dave Shaw found his parents and promised to recover his body. Unfortunately, Dave encountered an accident while retrieving the remains and tragically passed away. A few days later, the rescue team recovered Dave's body, with Deon's remains found in a bag next to him. Dave's act of fulfilling his promise with his life touched many people.
