Hacker Gary Bowser, previously sentenced to over three years in prison for enabling 3DS and Switch consoles to play pirated games, has been released early for good behavior. However, he is still required to pay a 10 million USD damages fee to Nintendo; the maximum that Nintendo can take is between 25% and 30% of his monthly gross income, meaning Bowser will need to earn at least 40 million USD before the end of his life.

Bowser:

The maximum [Nintendo] can take is between 25 percent and 30 percent of your monthly gross income, and I have up until, like, six months before I have to start making payments.

Bowser was part of a group called Team Xecutor, charged by Nintendo in 2020 for creating and selling modchips that allowed pirated games to be played on their consoles.
