HoYoverse
As a rising game developer in China, HoYoverse's every move has attracted the attention of players. Recently, some players discovered that HoYoverse has applied for a series of "R-project" copyrights and new trademarks with the "hot-blooded" logo, all applied for in February, which seems to indicate that another new game is about to be released.
The news immediately sparked speculation among many players. Some players believe that this may be a shooting game, as HoYoverse previously had a "Project-SH" project internally, rumored to be a second-dimensional open-world TPS game led by HoYoverse CEO Cai Haoyu. However, this game was never finished and the project was disbanded in November last year.
Although the project was ultimately disbanded, it is not impossible to apply the experience, assets, and other resources from the project to a new project. There have been similarly successful cases in the industry, such as "Overwatch," which was transformed from Blizzard's long-unreleased "Titan" project.
In addition to shooting games, some players also believe that the "R" in R-Project may refer to "hot-blooded," and from the name, it feels like a fighting game. Some even claim that HoYoverse will announce a PvP game in the second half of this year.
Hot-Blooded-Related Trademarks
However, only relying on copyrights and trademarks cannot fully judge whether it is a new project, especially for HoYoverse, which has been successful in developing peripheral products such as merchandise. This has led to "Li Yue" and "Mond" in "Genshin Impact" also being applied for trademarks.
Therefore, some players believe that only software copyrights are the most reliable, and these trademarks may be items or props in "Honkai Impact 3rd" or "Genshin Impact," as both games have not yet been released.
In fact, this statement does have some basis. GameLook found that the company that applied for the R-project-related trademarks is "Shanghai HoYoverse Haiyuan City Technology Co., Ltd.," which is also the company that owns the copyright of "Honkai Impact 3rd: Star Rail." However, the main company that applied for the "hot-blooded" trademark is Shanghai HoYoverse Network Technology Co., Ltd., so the relationship between the two is unknown for now.
It can be confirmed that HoYoverse currently has two games, "Honkai: Star Rail" and "Genshin Impact," of which the former has obtained a license and seems to have a trend of public testing this year. As for whether HoYoverse will announce a new project this year, let's wait and see.
