CG concept designer @HuaLu华路 revealed on Chinese social media platform Weibo that a recently launched game on TAPTAP, "Immortal Soul" (不朽之魂), has copied his personal IP, "Chaos Warrior" (混沌武士), without his authorization nor permission. The game allegedly used his original artwork for all of its cards, promotional materials, UI icons, and characters without making any modifications. The studio behind the game, Naughty Fish, could not be located for comment.

This act of intellectual property theft is a recurring issue in the gaming industry, but this case is particularly egregious. @HuaLu's art was used directly without any attempt at originality or attribution. As a creator, he has the right to protect his intellectual property and demand that it not be used without his consent. In response to his complaint, TAPTAP has taken the game down from its platform.

This situation highlights the importance of intellectual property protection for creators, especially in the gaming industry, where original content is highly valued. It is crucial for game developers and publishers to respect the intellectual property of others and to seek permission or license artwork, music, or other content they wish to use. This not only ensures that creators are compensated for their work but also fosters a culture of creativity and innovation.

As far as it comes, creators must be vigilant in protecting their intellectual property, and the gaming industry must respect and uphold the intellectual property rights of creators. It is only by doing so that we can continue to promote originality and innovation in this exciting field.
