After more than 20 years of developing as the sole programmer, Dwarf Fortress developer Tarn Adams will be seeking additional help for the first time. Bay 12 Games and publisher Kitfox have announced that due to the game's success, they have hired a second programmer for the game from the Dwarf Fortress Mod community.

Mod creator Putnam is now a full-time programmer on the Dwarf Fortress team, making him the third member of the team behind brothers Tarn Adams and Zach Adams, who had previously been doing all the programming while Zach served as the project's producer and worked with Tarn to design the game's features.
