Released on November 13, 2007, the first Assassin's Creed game was seen as a branched-out version of Prince of Persia, with a completely different stealth assassination gameplay experience. This new direction helped the game sell over 8 million copies in two years and set the stage for the following sequels.

Nowadays, the Assassin's Creed series has sold more than 200 million copies worldwide and spawned countless games, novels, comics, and movies, becoming one of the most renowned and successful video game franchises.
