China Game Industry Group Committee (CGIGC) released an industry report showing the revenue of the domestic esports market was 76.497 billion CNY (~11.3 billion USD) in H1, marking a year-on-year drop of 10.12%. The pandemic is the main reason for the revenue decline.
The chart shows a 10.12% decline in China’s esports market revenue in H1 2022.
Esports games generate most of the revenue, accounting for 83.29%. However, games' revenue reached 63.712 billion CNY in this period, a year-on-year decrease of 11.59%.
Esports live broadcast revenue accounts for 13.96% of the total market revenue, ranking second behind esports games. Tournament income, club revenue, and other income accounts for 1.24%, 1.01%, and 0.52%, respectively. These four segments have a total revenue of 12.785 billion CNY, which is a year-on-year decrease of 2%.
The number of esports users in China is 487 million, decreasing slightly by 0.41%.
