Monster Hunter: World Sees Surge in Player Count on Steam Ahead of New Series Release
Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World, released on Steam in 2018, has recently seen a significant surge in concurrent players, surpassing 100,000 users. This revival in interest is attributed to the anticipation surrounding the upcoming series installment, Monster Hunter Wilds, set to launch in 2025.
Monster Hunter: World, a pivotal title in the popular series, initially exceeded 330,000 simultaneous players upon its PC release. This figure further climbed beyond 270,000 with the release of the major expansion 'Iceborne.' However, the player count had settled between 20,000 to 50,000 by January 2022, following the launch of Monster Hunter Rise.

The announcement of Monster Hunter Wilds in December 2023 has reignited interest in its atmospheric predecessor, Monster Hunter: World. The game’s peak concurrent player count spiked to 104,021 by 11:00 PM on December 22, more than doubling the average numbers seen in recent times.
While Monster Hunter Rise’s Steam version peaked at 27,307 players in December, it's evident that Monster Hunter: World is currently experiencing a notable resurgence in popularity. This resurgence is a testament to the enduring appeal of the Monster Hunter series among its dedicated fanbase.
