At last month's Gamescom in Cologne, Nintendo publicly showcased gameplay for Pikmin 4 and Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. However, Eurogamer reports that behind closed doors, Nintendo was busy giving developer presentations for the much-anticipated Switch 2. During these confidential sessions, tech demos illustrated the console's enhanced capabilities, including a ramped-up version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild tailored for the Switch 2's improved specs.
Though no official statements have been made, the next-gen Nintendo hardware is rumored to drop sometime in 2024. This aligns with Eurogamer's own prior information, suggesting that Nintendo is eager to speed up the launch timeline if feasible.
In the meantime, Nintendo has announced a compelling slate of titles for the current Switch extending into early 2024. These include Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a Super Mario RPG remake, and a fresh WarioWare installment, all expected to release before the end of this year. On the horizon for 2024 are a new Princess Peach title and a port of Luigi's Mansion 2. The release date for the eagerly awaited Metroid Prime 4, however, remains "TBA".
Of course, Nintendo remained tight-lipped when contacted for comment.
