The new installment picks up years after the events of the original series and promises "an exciting new setting and their highest stakes yet," according to the official logline. Castlevania: Nocturne, penned by Clive Bradley and overseen by showrunner Kevin Kolde, is inspired by Konami's 1993 video game, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. Set in the tumultuous times of the French Revolution, the story revolves around Richter Belmont, a descendant of Trevor Belmont and Sypha, who continues the family's legacy of vampire hunting. The series is produced by Powerhouse Animation.
The voice cast features Edward Bluemel as Richter, Pixie Davies as Maria Renard, and other notable talents like Thuso Mbedu, Natassja Kinski, and Franka Potente, who voices the historical yet controversial figure, Erzsebet Báthory. Báthory is infamous for her alleged killings and torture of countless young women, purportedly using their blood in gruesome beauty rituals.
