CD Projekt
The CEO of CD Projekt denied rumors that Sony may be acquiring the company. Over the weekend, a leaker who usually specializes in "Destiny" game content claimed to know that Sony was planning to acquire the developer/publisher of "The Witcher" and "Cyberpunk 2077" and integrate it into Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).
However, during the earnings call following the company's Q1 2023 results announcement, CD Projekt President and CEO Adam Kiciński claimed that these rumors were untrue.
When an attendee asked if the reports were true, Kiciński replied: "We have no changes on our side."
He also emphasized a point that has been brought up multiple times during the years, "CD Projekt is not for sale."
"We want to remain independent. I believe we have a good strategy. Of course, executing it is not easy, but walking our own path is very exciting. So this is purely a rumor."
As for the rest of the earnings call, Kiciński announced that the upcoming "Cyberpunk 2077" expansion "The Past of Night City" will be available for demo at the gaming day event at Summer Game Fest.
Back in March of this year, CD Projekt announced its decision to redesign "Project Sirius," the latest addition to "The Witcher" series first reported in October 2020.
