Apex Legends is now available in the China region on Steam.

Although the game is free to play and supports simplified Chinese subtitles and dubbing, prior to today, Apex Legends was not available in the China region on Steam. Chinese players needed to either download and play it directly through Origin, or go through a complex and unofficial way to get around the region detection on Steam.
