Hypergryph, the developer behind Arknights, released a teaser video of their latest 3DRPG game Ex Astris. The release date is yet to announce.
The one-minute preview did not reveal too much about the gameplay itself. According to the official website, the game will feature a futuristic setting in which the protagonists are eager to explore the lives of distant planets.
The game is going to be Hypergryph’s first Buy-to-Play mobile game and it will feature episodic narratives with 3D RPG gameplay. Many Chinese gamers have highlighted the fact that introducing a Buy-to-Play game is one courageous step considering the current mobile game climate. The Chinese game review platform TapTap now gives Ex Astris a moderate 7.3 in response to the anticipating fanbase in China.
Hypergryph has gained international fame through its successful development of Arknights in 2019. Based in Shanghai, the young Chinese developing company gathered ex-developers from Massive Black and Cygames to create games with ‘artistic values’. As of May 2021, Arknights alone has gained 700 million US dollar revenue in Apple Store and Google Play, put Hypergraphy into the first tier of China’s mobile game developers.
