World of Warcraft (WoW) has revealed a special gift package with the valuable Swift Spectral Tiger mount on The Burning Crusade Classic server, along with other gear and a 180-day subscription. The bundle costs 1688 CNY (~ 266 USD) and celebrates the upcoming Year of the Tiger in China, which starts on February 1st.

In addition to the Swift Spectral Tiger mount, the other gear includes Wen Lo, The River’s Edge for modern WoW and the Goblin Gumbo Kettle toy for The Burning Crusade Classic servers.

News about this offer has been in China's WoW community's headlines because the Swift Spectral Tiger is a highly valuable mount originally obtained from The World of Warcraft Trading Card Game (TCG). However, the TCG was discontinued in 2013, driving up the prices of the mount item further, and there are few other mounts available in WoW with a spectral design. Currently, a Swift Spectral Tiger can cost close to 10,000 CNY on domestic e-commerce platforms.

Some memes on the rarity of the virtual item have emerged online, and one of them said on the NGA forum, “Grandpa, tell me the story about how a pathetic person is eager to acquire you every year.”

While Blizzard’s offer is a big surprise to most Chinese players, some fans are worried that the price is too high for a mount, as usually, a mount costs them less than 400 CNY each. But some opposed this point by saying: “If you feel like it’s expensive, you can simply leave it there.”
