On July 10th, Epic China shared a video on Weibo, joking about how they found an imposter website on the search engine Baidu.
A screenshot taken from the video shows the imposter Epic Assistant was on top of all results.
In the video, we see Epic China tried to search “Epic” on Baidu and surprisingly found a website called “Epic Assistant” at the top 1 of the results. It was even higher than Epic’s official website. They also found the “Epic Assistant” was claiming there were many games on special sales and suspiciously, all those games had been freely given away to Epic users before. And the “Epic Assistant” was selling a 699 CNY (equals 100 USD) subscriber service to provide “free video games” on the Epic platform. Turns out, it was an illegal account renting platform. And Epic joked that the most intolerable part was that website called itself “STEAM BIG” while advertising under Epic’s name.

Epic China has reported the website to Baidu.com and they sent a lawyer’s letter to the “Epic Assistant” website at the same time. At this moment, the website is no longer on Baidu’s search results and is very likely not available anymore. However, the one that appears just beneath the official website is another account renting website.
A screenshot taken from Baidu.com shows Epic’s official website has returned to Top 1 while the second one is something similar to the previous imposter.
