Square Enix recently announced a free update for Final Fantasy XVI during their "Voices from Valisthea" panel at PAX West 2023. Hosted in Seattle and featuring the game's English voice cast, the panel concluded with a video message from the game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida.
About two months post-launch, the development team is showering players with a couple of gifts as a thank-you for the global feedback. The update offers a weapon-skin feature allowing players to customize Clive's weapon appearance without affecting its stats. Additionally, new alternate outfits for characters like Clive, Jill, Torgal, Ambrosia, and Joshua will be introduced.
But the news didn't stop there. Yoshida confirmed that the team is working on two paid DLC installments to further dive into the world of Valisthea. Moreover, a PC version is officially in the pipeline, answering the calls of many fans. Details on both the DLCs and the PC version are promised before the year's end.
If you're new to Final Fantasy XVI, this update also brings minor adjustments like new controller layouts based on player feedback.
Currently available on PlayStation 5, Final Fantasy XVI continues to ride its wave of post-launch enthusiasm, and Square Enix aims to keep that momentum going. Stay tuned for more updates.
