The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is based on Nintendo's Super Mario series and produced by the studio Illumination, known for the Despicable Me series, is scheduled to be released in Japan on April 28.

The film debuted in North America on April 5 and has topped the box office for two consecutive weekends, showing a promising opening. Many people in Japan are also eagerly awaiting its release.

On April 18, a Japan premiere was held ahead of the general release, with an advance screening and stage greetings for some audiences and media. The stage greetings featured Nintendo's Representative Director, Shigeru Miyamoto, Illumination's CEO, Chris Meledandri, as well as Ms. Nanase Nishino, and some celebrities and comedians, who shared their thoughts on the movie.
