Valorant’s Episode 5 Act III Battle Pass will include a free gun buddy called "Corbin's Light" so players can pay tribute to a young fan named Corbin, who recently died of Neuroblastoma.

Riot Games tells the story of Corbin in Valorant's dev blog. Corbin was an avid fan of Valorant, who discovered he had a serious form of cancer during a routine medical checkup years ago. He kept an optimistic attitude while receiving treatment and relied on the game to ease his pain.

Shortly before his death, Corbin also made a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, hoping he could design a skin for the game he loves most. It was this wish that brought Corbin's story to the attention of Riot Games with this good-looking gun buddy.

Catalina Faerman, the artist that designed the gun buddy, also revealed some of her design ideas. Corbin loved astronomy and liked blue best, so they created a blue star with crystals. The Make-A-Wish Foundation also named a star in the sky after Corbin, and Riot Games has left the coordinates of this star on one side of the crystal.

“I wanted to make something that he would’ve been proud of but also represented him,” said Faerman. "I haven’t been on the Valorant team for long, so I’m honored and grateful beyond words to the team who entrusted me and supported me with this task. Most of all, I’m indebted to Corbin and our players for inspiring us and giving me the opportunity to make art for them. I’m incredibly proud of Corbin’s Light and I will carry this experience with me always."

In addition, Riot Games made a donation to the C-SQUAD Foundation - created by Corbin's family to help families who, like Corbin, suffer from Neuroblastoma.

Good night, Corbin, and shine on.
