New 2D shooting platformer Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef was released today by Rogueside. The game in hand-drawn style combines the Metal Slug gameplay and the characters and relationships from the rich universe of Warhammer 40,000, which looks quite creative at first glance.

In the game, in the beginning, players will pick one of the four distinct characters. Each has unique features and styles true to the Warhammer 40,000 lore. You will face a wild ride of dakka, gore, and explosions and go on to defeat those puny 'umies.

The basic weapons are powerful, and players can also expand their armory with up to twenty different weapons, which can be purchased at the Mekboy shop.

By unleashing iconic skill, Waaagh! at the right time, you can wreak carnage and rain destruction on the enemies.

The adventure does have some obstacles, but after some back and forth, you will finally defeat even the strongest boss. Ultimately, players will retrieve your luscious hair squig from the hands of the Warboss Gutrekka.

There is the single-player mode, and you can also get a party together of up to four Ork Boyz. Multiplayer is available both online and in local co-op.

From our experience, we had some fun and excitement with the game's combat and actions. The art is also very detailed and engaging.

In the meantime, we also found room for improvement: the game's combat requires too much precision for a Joycon controller, and the game UI could have some optimization.

Bullets in the game have a very small hitbox and need to be aimed precisely in the direction. This has not been the most thrilling experience on the tiny switch joy-con. In the end, we found ourselves constantly switching to an auto-locking missile weapon.

The items at Mek Shop don't look too bad, but on an NS screen, it's literally unreadable. The items at Mek Shop don't look too bad, but on an NS screen, it's literally unreadable.

Besides this, the font size on the UI is too difficult to read on Nintendo Switch's 7-inch screen. We wanted to love the game more, but apparently, it can be better if the NS version had more polishing. The game might offer a better experience on PC with a keyboard and mouse, but so far, it misses the mark of the "Warhammer + metal slug" we thought it could have been.
