The open-source martial arts RPG development framework Legends of Heroes will soon launch on Steam.
According to the developers, Legends of Heroes is not just a development framework but includes a sample game that you can modify the contents of at will. The framework was developed as a tribute to the classic martial arts RPG Heroes of Jinyong, released in 1996, and the many RPG games that used it as a source of inspiration. Players can download and modify the contents of the sample game for free and develop their own martial arts games.
The game that comes with Legends of Heroes tells the story of a martial arts master who was killed and had his soul transferred to a beggar who had died at the same time, bringing the martial artist back to life in the beggar’s body. Players will then investigate the cause of their own death. The game is about 3-4 hours long, with multiple endings, more than ten different martial arts can be learned, and hundreds of different weapons are available.
