As the most successful commercial anime mobile game in recent years, Genshin Impact is full of amazing characters, but turning them into figures has proven to be a considerable challenge.
So far, there's only one official Genshin figure of the character Klee on the market. It has impeccable quality and value, but not enough to satisfy all the Genshin fans.
Naturally, bootleg figure makers started producing unauthorized Genshin scale figures to fill the void. Some of them are of exceptionally high quality, even comparable with the product of major figure production companies.
However, Superpixel has found a few mysterious exceptions, and we can't help ourselves to get a set in our hands, and have a closer look at them so that the rest of the world doesn't have to.
Despite the extreme rough faces, the figures do reminiscence the poses from their character poster arts
This scale figures set contains four of Genshin Impact's popular characters: Venti, Raiden Shogun, Zhongli, and Bennett. At first, we thought they were made of clay, but it turns out these figures are made entirely of resin, in one piece, quite different from the normal figure production process. Hence, the overall painting and color separation are unbearable.
Only the top of the braid is painted properly
If the colors on the body are this bad, how terrible would the facial feature look? Well, the simple answer is "yes." Among these four abominations, we found Venti the most amusing, for each of his eyes seemed to have a mind of their own, separated by four timezones.
Venti's eyes seem to be in different zip codes
Raiden Shogun's face looks like statues in an ancient Chinese temple
The entire production process, from modeling to painting, is as organized and well thought after as Zhongli's eyes
We're not sure why Bennett has been so cheerful; maybe he's happy that his face is at least somewhat recognizable and forgot that his sword is welded to his pants.
This Bennett-like thing seems to be trying to say: Hey, all is well!
The sword is welded to the pants
Except for the poor facial details and painting, the figures seem to blend in thoroughly with the floor, and the hair is glued to the weapons they hold and cannot be separated.
The figure and the weapon appear to be completely integrated since differnt parts were not painted separately.
Zhongli's spear goes through his hair
Although we do not know who made these figures, the four characters' distorted limbs and fearful faces would make them strong contenders for the ugliest anime figures ever made.
After buying them for 60 CNY (9 USD) each on the second-hand market, we discovered that the price tag was only 46 CNY (7 USD)
Back in 2004, a figure of Artoria Pendragon from the Type-Moon game series Fate, a magazine giveaway, exploded worldwide because of its strange facial expressions.
This Saber figure was adopted from the work of the significant figure produce company GSC's chief artist Takeshi Miyakawa.
Because of its strange expressions, this pirated Saber figure was called the evil god or "Sader" at that time. Even Takeshi Miyakawa has one in his office, claiming that he could find inner peace whenever he saw that face.
This time, the bootleg figure makers are not copying from any official design and having fun on their own. Hopefully, they'd bring more inner peace for all the Genshin fans.
